Cervetto’s 12 Sonatas for Violoncello and Basso Continuo were printed in 1750 but were probably written before that. They gradually increase in difficulty from moderate to advanced. They exhibit imagination and variety both in form and content. They are excellent teaching pieces, but are also well-worth listening to. Stylistically they fall in the late-Baroque Roccoco period. We are issuing them in three volumes. The cello part contains the editor’s suggested fingerings and bowings, while the full score reproduces the original.
Volume I: Sonatas 1-4
